Der Architekt Michael (Zach Braff) steht vor seinem 30. Geburtstag und befürchtet das nun ein Spießerleben mit Familie und Eigenheim ansteht. Die überraschende Schwangerschaft seiner Freundin Jenna (Jacinda Barrett) scheint den ersten Grundstein für eben jenes zu setzen, was ihn in eine vorzeitige Midlife-Crisis stürzt. Ausgerechnet zu diesem Zeitpunkt trifft er auf die lebensfrohe, junge Kim (Rachel Bilson) während der Hochzeit seines besten Freundes und ein Kuss mit ihr wirft die Frage auf, ob er die Rolle des gereiften Familienvater wirklich spielen möchte.

• Rachel Bilson gab in "Der letzte Kuss" ihr Filmdebüt.
• Gerüchte besagten, dass Rachel ein Bodydouble für die Sexszenen verlangt haben soll. Allerdings drehte sie alle Szenen selbst. Unter der Bedingung, dass sie nicht komplett nackt war.
• Ursprünglich sollte Rachel McAdams die Rolle von Zach Braffs Freundin Jenna übernehmen, musste aber kurzfristig absagen, da sie an andere Projekte gebunden war.

Michael: since pre-school actually...

Michael: Put it this way. If i had to do it again, I'd do it knowing that after you graduate no one ever gives a fuck what your GPA was.
